Moreton Rear Extension

Moreton · Completed 2026

Full single-storey rear extension in Moreton, Wirral — demolition of an existing conservatory, new blockwork structure with pitched and flat roof sections, underfloor heating, bi-fold doors, skylights, and a new block paving patio. Completed April 2026.

The Brief

The clients in Moreton came to us wanting to get rid of an old, cold conservatory and replace it with something they could actually use all year round. The brief was straightforward: a proper rear extension — warm, bright, and open — with bi-fold doors onto the garden and a finish that matched the quality of their existing brick home.

We handled the full scope: demolition, groundworks, structure, roof, heating, and paving. One team, start to finish.

Demolition & Groundworks

First out was the existing conservatory. Once the site was cleared we could see exactly what we were working with — and get the groundworks right before a single block went up.

Blockwork Structure

With the slab prepared, the walls went up course by course in blockwork — built tight, plumb, and to spec. The blue waterproof membrane went on to the external leaf before the outer brick skin was tied in, keeping the cavity properly protected throughout.

Roof Structure

This project had two roof sections: a pitched timber roof to the main extension and a flat roof section finished with EPDM membrane. Scaffolding went up around the full rear elevation to allow the roof work to be done safely and properly.

Underfloor Heating

Before the floor went down, underfloor heating was run across the full slab — red pipe looped onto the insulated mesh mat. It keeps the whole space evenly warm with no radiators eating into wall space, and works perfectly under the large format tiles that were laid on top.

Mid-Build Progress

With the walls up, roof on, and heating in — the extension was taking real shape. Brick matching to the existing property was key here: we sourced a brick that ties in cleanly with the original rear elevation so the new addition looks like it was always meant to be there.

The Finished Extension

Handed over April 2026. The rear of the property is completely transformed — a bright, warm, open-plan space with skylights flooding the kitchen area with natural light and bi-fold doors that open the whole rear wall onto the new block paving patio.
